The Changing (Inter)Face of Education showcased interactive, multimedia- based curricula designed by preservice teachers in the UCI Department of Education's teacher preparation program. As part of an innovative approach to preparing tomorrow's teachers for teaching and learning with technologies, teams of elementary teacher candidates designed and constructed computer-supported learning activities that were based on the California Framework and Standards for History and Social Studies.

The Beall Center for Art and Media hosted an interactive exhibition of these projects April 8-12, 2002. In collaboration with the UCI ArtsBridge Project, Orange County students from K-5 classes were invited to visit the exhibition and engage with the interactive learning activities. The teacher designers were on hand to guide the young learners and gather information to reveal what and how students learn with multimedia. Two UCI education faculty, Dr. Kim Burge and Dr. Robert Beck, supervised this project, which was also partially funded by a U.S. Department of Education PT3 grant.
